  1. Prepare 1/3 cup of small diced green peppers.
  2. Prepare 1/3 cup of small diced onion.
  3. You need 1/3 cup of Marinated artichoke chopped (optional).
  4. It's 2 cups of AP flour.
  5. Prepare 1 tsp of baking soda OR baking powder.
  6. It's 1/2 cup of water.
  7. Prepare 1 tsp of paprika.

  9. You need 2 tsp of old bay season.
  10. Prepare 1 tsp of seafood season (if you have).
  11. It's 1 tsp of black pepper.

Such an easy recipe and delicious. Reminds me of ordering from the neighborhood Jamaican restaurant in Brooklyn. This Vegan Jamaican Salt Fish recipe is reminiscent of cook up salt fish that I grew up enjoying growing up in Jamaica. Saltfish or dry salted cod has been a staple in Jamaica.

  1. Combine flour, baking soda and all spices. Combine well.
  2. Now add the peppers and onions (artichoke if you want) Artichoke is for fish like texture. Either way will be fine.
  3. Now little by little add the water. You need a thick pancake like consistency. Not too loose. You may NOT need all of the water.
  4. Once oil is hot, get a heaping spoon and carefully place the batter in the oil. Once hard one one side, flip and lightly flatten the fritter. For even cooking. May have to flip a few times. This should make about 8-10 fritters.
  5. Once golden brown. Sprinkle some salt and you’re done. Pair with some fried plantain. !!.

Our national dish is prepared with saltfish and ackee. Jamaican salt fish fritter is my favourite fritters. It is so filling and that is what I like most about it. Saltfish fritter in simple terms is salt fish and seasoning mixed in the very soft dumpling dough then fired. The soft flour mixture and the saltfish flakes makes to the fritters soft and chewy when fry.
